Maize is one of major grain crops in China, seed quality is a major problem in corn production. The identification of genuineness and purity of maize seed is very important to keep the fake and shoddy seeds from the market. The thesis is to construct the technical standard for the detection of genuineness and purity of maize seed by using SSR marker system.The main results were summarized as follow:(1) 137 SSR primer pairs were chosen according to literature and maize GDB databse(http://www.maizegdb.org). 16 maize crossing combinations and 202 main maize inbred lines were analyzed using these SSR primers. Based on the balanced distribution in chromosomes, stability, high value of PIC,a set of 40 primer pairs was selected as core primers (consists of 20 pairs of class I and 20 pairs of class II.).(2) Based on above study, the techniques on identification of genuineness and purity of hybrid maize and its inbred line were studied systematically. And an initial standardized criterion of interpretation were established, the effectiveness and feasibility of the identification system were verified through the detection test to artificially mixed populations (3 inbred lines and 3 hybrid lines) by the established method.(3) The identification of parentage relationship of hybrid maize and its inbred line were studied systematically.
