| In 1984,the"The General History of Tea"written by professor Chen Chuan was published by China Agricultural Press.It was the first document about the general history of tea science. In this book, the author gave a explicit clarification on the science and technology,economical and culture of tea. It was also a foundation of tea history with integrated and deep ideology. On the other side, this book had developed the tea planting, the tea science of our country and play the remarkable effective in tea culture's prosperity. It became a important document in the world tea science library. This research was the first systematically researching and packing of the book in the world.We gave the conclusion and argumentation about the academic value and the coordinate in history. We argue that this research will broadcast this book ,acquaint the history of tea and summarize the idea of professor Chen Chuan. It could also promote the tea history research and the tea culture's prosperity. Using the documents research and comparative analysis, we appreciated the development and studying of tea history from microcosmic sight.Because of the content's dispatch and analysis by special subject ,this paper classified and gave another category tracing the trend of modern tea science following the structure of origin book. The content grouped as follows: the development history of the tea science, the economic history of tea, the tea cultural history. In these three topic we could also divide them into some subgroup. The first part including the origination of tea'discovery, the cultivate and management of tea plant, the history of tea processing, the development of tea categorize, chemistry and Pharmaceutical Science of tea. Next ,we classified the economic development with the tea product district, the yield of tea, the evolvement of tea politics and law, the development of tea trade in the internal and external of our country, The development of tea culture including the references of tea science in the world, tea and culture developed and the drinking of tea all over the world, the broadcasting history of tea in the world. We compared and complemented some special topics, combining with some representative references of tea historic quoting in"The General History of Tea", so that it could present its academic value and the coordinate in history.Basing on the comprehensive comments in the special contents of"The General History of Tea", this paper gave the book a integrated summary."The General History of Tea"used the historic documents at all times and in all over the world, accompanying with the time clue, found the intrinsic from the historic phenomenon and the disciplines of history development so that the disciplines of history could keep relations with the contemporary and future. It could also construct the considerable apprehensive and predictability on tea production."The General History of Tea"initiated the research of tea history and the established the basement of tea historic science. We evaluated this book as follows: offering abundant documents and initiating the tea history research, establishing the basements of tea historic science. It was also the outline work of professor Chen Chuan's ideology, accelerating the development of modern tea science and the recovery and flourish of tea culture.In the end, this study pointed out the drawbacks of this books such as the lacking of materials about history, the nonstandard of quoting on the references, the unscientific of the book formulation and some conclusion needed to verify. We gave some suggestions about this book related with the current research. |
