Emulsion in water (EW) is with water as the carrier, and plays an important role in development of new formulations owing to its reducing environmental pollution and production costs. Avermectin exhibits excellent control effect on adult mites while hexythiazox expresses good effect on larval and eggs mites. In the current study, according to the registration rate of 5% avermectin·hexythiazox EC formulation (avermectin:hexythiazox=1:9),5% abamectin-hexythiazox EW is developed based on the indoor bioassay with obvious synergism effects on Tetranychus cinnabarinus. The main results are as follows:1. The effects of indoor bioassayThe co-toxicity coefficient (CTC) of the combination of abamectin with hexythiazox to female adult mites and mite eggs are 215 and 194, respectively, far larger than 120, indicating there is obvious synergism effect of the combination.2.5% avermectin·hexythiazox EW formuLation Abamectin 0.5%(percentage composition) Hexythiazox 4.5% (percentage composition) Organic solvent 13% toluene and N, N-2-methyl-pyrrolidone (10:3) Emulsifier 4% Span-20 and Tween-20 (1:3) Propylene glycol 5% Water Complement to 100%3. Field trials results show that there was an excellent effect of 5% avermectin·hexythiazox EW on cowpea spider mites. After 7 d and 14 d treatments at the dosage of 18 g/hm~2, the correction control efficacy reached 93.96% and 96.18%, respectively, much better than the control efficacy. The formulation has an ideal control effect, long effective duration and high security. The effective ingredients of 5% avermectin· hexythiazox EW at a dosage of 9 to 18 g/hm2 was recommended to control cowpeaspider mites.
