The design and construction of roads and ditches in traditional agricultural land consolidation generally take the convenience of traffic, the water conveyance efficiency, the structural safety, economizing the cost of projects and facilitating the management as the main requirements. The lack of ecological considerations causes the habitat deterioration of animals and plants. In this context, there is an urgent need for the ecological fine design techniques of roads, drains and canals in agricultural land consolidation projects, which coordinates the function display, ecology and economy of road and ditches. It aims to solve the problem of habitat deterioration caused by concrete used in roads and ditches and meanwhile ensuring agricultural production, provide a platform for the development of precision agriculture.In view of the cases in field investigation that frogs die when crossing the road or fall into the ditch and can't go back to the field, and the little consideration of frog protection in the existing road and ditch design, this paper does test research on the frog exercise habits, which involves four ditch tests and two road tests. They are:the maximum jump height test of frog in rectangular ditch, the maximum gradient test of slope that frog can crawl up, the maximum gradient test of zigzag style eco-slope that frog can crawl up, the feasibility test of ladder-type eco-slope, the test of temperature impact on frog jumping ability and the survival time test of frog under high road surface temperature. The specific controlling parameters for road and ditch ecological design are got from these tests, which provide the foundation of ecological fine design of roads and ditches. On this basis, combined with domestic and international research, functional requirements of various projects, project grade and regional condition, this paper puts forward the ecological fine design construction mode of roads, drains and canals respectively. It solves the problem of the little consideration that has been given to the applicability of projects with different scale in the previous ecological design. The design takes the regional natural condition and the function requirement of projects into account, and also introduces some design that rarely applied to the projects in agricultural land consolidation. Meanwhile, the animal escape slopes and frog conservation design has been put forward according to the test results. Finally, the basic farmland consolidation project of Xiaohu Town in Fujian Province is taken as application example of the ecological fine design.
