Experimental Evaluation Of Solar Wood Kiln And Technics For Drying Wood

Solar energy is inexhaustible and there is no pollution to environment in utilize solar energy, so utilizing solar energy have great mean to protect environment and to decrease energy consume.But there are some disadvances in using solar energy. In order to make better use of solar energy to drying wood, we do some research on solar wood drying.This paper first introduce the solar drying kiln which equipped with heat pipe collector and paraffin pipe. The solar radiation intensity, temperature, humidity and fan controlled in automatic. The average temperature in the kiln would is about 45℃in day time, about 30℃at night; In using the paraffin to keep the temperature,the average temperature in the kiln at night is about 30℃which is 4-5℃higher than environment temperature.The utilization efficiency of heat pipe collector and holistic collector is 64% and 33%. Drying wood in solar wood kiln would decrease 70.9% energy than conventional wood kiln.We do some research on the temperature gradient between the interna and surface of timber,the velocity of drying, the quality of dride wood and so on in the end in order to make benchmark for drying wood. The temperature in the kiln change in cycle in one day, the temperature in the surface is higher than interna,but in the after it's different. The velocity of drying wood in the solar kiln is more higer then in the open air. The time took for drying wood from moisture of 64.7% to 15.5% is less 11 days in the solar kiln than in the open air and from 75% to 29.5% is less 7 days.We did some test on the wood about the humidity and stess, we found that the quality of the dried wood fit the standards of quality and grade of lumber drying two, and there is no visible vice about the dried wood.The innovation:1. equipped with heat pipe collector and holisticcollector;2. fixed with paraffin pipe to keep the temperature in the kiln at night or in bad weather.
