In this paper, Gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii Bolus) for the tested materials,4 different color gerbera varieties (Hongditan:red; Feizi:purple; Lvxinfen:pink; Wenxin:yellow) to GA3 treatment, through the anatomical structure of gerbera petals, flower color phenotype, flower petal pigment analysis and determination of mineral elements in petals, preliminary analysis of the gerbera flower formation principle. Different concentrations of GA3 (Omg/L,50mg/L 1 OOmg/L,200mg/L,400mg/L,800mg/L) treatments during the development of gerbera flowers in soluble sugar content, PAL activity, the total carotenoid content, total flavonoids content and total anthocyanin content were determined, and studied of GA3 on the growth of gerbera flowers and flower formation.The main result were as follows:1. The low concentration of GA3 is good for improving Gerbera flower quality and increasing production.200mg/L GA3 treatments shortest of all varieties of flower development, squid length and faceplate have increased in size and other characteristics, however, the optimal GA3 concentration is different in different varieties and high concentrations of GA3 inhibited the growth of gerbera flowers.2. GA3 treatment on different varieties of Gerbera flower Phenotype big difference. Wenxin in 200mg/L GA3 treatments a* value was the largest, L* and b* values of each treatment were less than CK; Feizi in each treatment a* and b* values were less than CK, L* value was the largest in 400mg/L treatment. Hongditan and Lvxinfen in each GA3 treatments a* and b* values were less than CK, in 800mg/L treatment L* value was the largest.3. Epidermal cell shape and pigment distribution of Gerbera were the main factors affecting the color. It was concluded that:Gerbera pigment mainly distributed in the palisade tissue, upper and lower petals of a small amount distribution. The upper epidermis cell layer of Petals are thicker than the lower epidermis, the upper epidermal cells were convex shape, reduced the reflection of light, brightness were lower than the lower epidermis.4. The mineral element content in Gerbera petals are different, Mineral elements Chelated with pigment had greatly improved the stability of the pigment:Therefore the number of an element can decide change direction of pigment.5. The pigment of Gerbera mainly by the carotenoid, flavonoid and anthocyanin composition, petals of Lvxinfen and Wenxin have the presence of traces of chlorophyll. With the development of flower petals, flavonoids and anthocyanins were in the accumulation, but the accumulation of carotenoids is more complex, Carotenoids of Lvxinfen and Wenxin were mainly formed in the P4 of flower development; Carotenoids of Hongditan were gradually accumulated with the flower development; however, carotenoids of Feizi were first reduced and then increased. Low concentration of GA3 treatment on petals of Hongditan and Feizi can promote the accumulation of carotenoids; 200mg/L GA3 treatment could significantly increase the total flavonoid content in petals of Gerbera; GA3 treatment significantly increased the total anthocyanin content of gerbera petals.
