AbstractObjective: To investigate the expressions of P53 and CD44V6 gene products and their relationship with neoplastic biological behavior in transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder and their clinical significance as well.Patients and Method: The expressions of P53 and CD44V6 gene products of 64 patients with transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder were evaluated using immunohistological method(SABC).Results: The rate of positive expression of P53 as well as CD44v6 gene product increased with the in crease of histological grade and clinical stage and there was stastical significance(P<00.5).The rate of recurrence of patients P53 and CD44v6 positively expressed was significantly higher than that of patients P53 and CD44v6 negatively expressed and stastical significance was found as well(P<00.5).Conclusions: The essay demonstrated that P53 and CD44v6 gene product expressions were associated with histological grade ,clinical stage and recurrence of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. Their expressions increased Significantly with the increase of histological grade. Their expressions in invasive transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder(T2~T4)were much higher than in superficial phenotype(Tis~T1).Their expressions in recurrent cases were higher than in the other cases. P53 gene product expression correlated with CD44v6 expression firmly .The essay suggested that P53 and CD44v6 might be used as objective indicators of malignance and recurrence of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder.
