Objective: To explore systematically the effect and the hemostasis principle of Kun Ning Huo Xue Decoction (KNHXD) in treating climacteric dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB) with blood stasis syndrome based on the theoretical, clinical and experimental research under the guidance of traditional and western medical theory. Method: 50 patients were divided randomly into the treatment group (35 cases, treated with KNHXD) and thecontrol group (15 cases, treated with Sanqi Pian). The hemostasis effect, the improvements of clinical symptoms, the variety of the hemodynamics and the density of endo'metrium were observed. Results: There was no significant difference in clinical symptoms, hemostasis indexes and the density of endometrium before treatment between the two groups (P>0. 05). But there was noted difference in the hemostasis effect, the improvements of clinical symptoms, the variety of the hemodynamics and the density of endometrium (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Experimental study showed that KNHXD promotedcontraction of uterus, reduced the bleeding and coagulation time, improved the hemodynamics, decreaced the level of endometrial ER and PR. The effect was superior to that of the control and/ or model groups(P<0.01 or P<0.05).
