The spontaneous bacterial peritonitis(SBP) is a* common, severe complication in cirrhosis. Its pathogenesis is still unknown. In recently researches, some antibiotic could decrease the SBP by defecation of digestive tract. So, it was accepted that the intestinal bacterium was the main sources of SBP, but the direct evidences were absent.There are some local and whloe protective mechanism in healthy to prevent the bacterium cross the intestinal mucosa. It was known that the SBP was happened easily when the liver or intestinal mucosa was decreased, and so on. These papers focused on the host, not the character of intestinal bacterium and its changes.We selected E. coli to research the relationship between cryptic growth cells (CGC) and cirrhosis with SBP, explore the pathogenesis of SBP and prevent its occurrence. We firstly observed the E. coli cryptic growth cells CGC in vitro, then established the rats' model of cirrhosis and observe E. coli CGC, and last observed the proliferative manners of E. coli CGC and its biological characteristics from patients with SBP by the wave growth culture systems and micro-culture technology. Based that, we evaluated the effect of E. coli CGC in the ascites on SBP with cirrhosis, and some drugs' effects on the formation of CGC.The main conclusions were following:1 .The highter CGC rate was induced by ware growth culture and micro-culture. The model of cirrhosis-induced CGCcan be applied into clinical or basical studying.2. The CGC had change not only in their physiological structure but also in their biologyical features to result in more complicated physiological functions. The special type of movenent of the CGC is associated with bacterial pathogenicity.3. Studies showed that the population of bacteria CGC changes, The CGC are slender and active and their length is 20-30 times as much.as that of the cells .The mobility of CGC was observed with the method established.lt was found that some of the CGC hovered into circles to form new complex structures .We systematically studied the production in their formation and concluded that CGC is a special biological chacarteristic.4.The stability of CGC structure is maintained by its continuous revolving motion manner, which demonstrates the CGC can be adapt itself disadvantage environments. The CGC have powerful reproduce and motion ability and powerful tolerance towards antibiotic.5.The CGC possessed powerful invasiveness ability and produce spontaneous bacterial peritonitis possibly. The increase of the invasive force by the CGC was highter than propagulum, biological functions of the CGC were more than propagulum, the CGC stability is maintained by alteration environment of in.the intestincal. .Furthermore observed structure of the CGC showed that the CGC entered the mediaand finally in bacterial colonization and spreading. These suggest that CGC can exert pathogenic effects through their special form of movement.6.The formation rate of CGC and powerful aggressive ability; Lactulose and other biological preparation are more ideal to treated the formation of CGC and aggregation at the intestinal flora in the spontaneous bacteria peritonitis patients.
