Study On The Expressions Of MMP-9/TIMP-1 In Endometrium And Villi

Objective:To explore the expressions of matrix metallopteinase-9 (MMP-9)/tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase-1(TIMP-1) in endometrium/villi and to find out the relationship between the expression of MMP-9/TIMP-1 and the serum levels of E2/P during peri-implantation period.Methods:1.The expression of MMP-9/TIMP-1 in the endometrium of the proliferative and secretive phase in 60 cases were detected by immunohistochemistry and pathologic image semi-quantification techniques. MMP-9/TIMP-1 expression in endometrium during different phases were compared.The secretive phase endometrium were send to SEM in order to further affirm "implantation window".The relationship between MMP-9/ TIMP-1 expression and the serum levels of E2 and P during peri-implantation period were analyzed.2. The difference between expression of MMP-9/TIMP-1 during peri-implantation period and expression of MMP-9/TIMP-1 in villi and decidua were compared. Results:1. MMP-9/TIMP-1 expression in endometrium can be observed in luminal,glandular epithelium and stromal cells in different phases.It is lower in proliferative phase,the expression got to the summit in mid and late secretive phase and it expressed the significantly highest in mid-secretive phase.There were no difference between mid and late secretive phase.2.There was a negative relationship between the expression of MMP-9 and serum level of P during peri-implantation period (P<0.05), but there was no correlationship between the expression of TIMP-1 and P(P>0.05).There were no relationship between MMP-9/TIMP-1 expression and E2 in the same phase((P>0.05).3.The expression of MMP-9/TIMP-1 in the decidua and villi were significant higher than the endometrial expression of MMP-9/TIMP-1 during implantation window phase(P<0.05). Conclusions:1.The expression of MMP-9/TIMP-1 were gradually higher from the proliferative phase to the secretive phase in ovulation normality women and it is the highest in implantation window phase.This was probably help to the embryonic nidation.2.It seem that the higher expression of MMP-9/TIMP-1 in the decidua and villi was benefit to the maintenance of early pregnancy.
