OBJECTIVE: Comparing the expressions of LIF and TGF-β2 during window of implantation in the endometrium of women with hydrosalpinx and tubal occlusion without hydrosalpinx and fertile women was to investigate the possible reason why hydrosalpinx affect the outcome of IVF-ET.METHODS:Got the endometrium during window of implantation from three groups of women (including women with hydrosalpinx and tubal occlusion without hydrosalpinx and fertile women).We prospectively examined the expressions of LIF and TGF-β2 during window of implantation in the endometrium of women with hydrosalpinx and tubal occlusion and fertile women by immunohistochemical method.RESULTS:1.LIF and TGF-β2 were expressed in the endometrium during window of implantation.They were mainly localized in the luminal epithelium and glandular epithelium and weak in stroma.2.The expression of LIF in the epithelium of endometrium during window of implantation for women with hydrosalpinx, tubal occlusion without hydrosalpinx and fertile women was 124.968±9.427, 112.459±6.739,104.507±5.513, respectively. There were significant differences during each two groups. The expression of LIF in stroma was137.544±11.908, 126.788±8.125,119.947±6.700, respectively. The expression of LIF in stroma of women with hydrosalpinx was significantly lower than that of women with tubal occlusion but without hydrosalpinx and fertile women.There was no statistical difference of the expression of LIF in stroma betweem women with tubal occlusion but without hydrosalpinx and fertile women.3.The expression of TGF-β2 in the epithelium of endometrium during window of implantation from women with hydrosalpinx,tubal occlusion without hydrosalpinx and fertile women was 118.228±6.736, 108.995±5.265,99.629±6.305,respectively. There were statistical differences during each two groups. The expression of TGF-β2 in stroma was 137.535±6.205,127.696±7.682,122.676±12.938,respectively. The expression of TGF-β2 in stroma of women with hydrosalpinx was significantly lower than that of women with tubal occlusion but without hydrosalpinx and fertile women.There was no statistical difference of the expression of TGF-β2 in stroma betweem women with tubal occlusion but without hydrosalpinx and fertile women.4.The correlation coefficients of LIF and TGF-β2 in epithelium and stroma were 0.585,0.382. There was positive correlation betweem expression of LIF and TGF-β2 in epithelium and stroma during window of implantation.CONCLUSION:1.LIF and TGF-β2 are expressed in the endometrium during window of implantation. They may both play important role in the embryo implantation.2.The decreased expression of LIF in the endometrium during implantation time from women with hydrosalpinx may due to the failure of embryo implantation.3.The decreased expression of TGF-β2 in the endometrium during implantation time from women with hydrosalpinx may due to the lower embryo implantation rate for women with hydrosalpinx.4.There is positive correlation betweem expression of LIF and TGF-β2 in epithelium and stroma during window of implantation. TGF-β2 may stimulate epithelial cells and stroma cells produce LIF in the endometrium during window of implantation. They may play important role in the embryo implantation together.
