Clinical Study Of Changping Decoction On Treatment Of Ulcerative Colitis

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect and investigate the mechanism of Changping Decoction in treating ulcerative colitis(UC). Methods: 78 cases of UC (according to the diagnosis criterion) were randomly divided into two groups.The 40 cases in the treated group were treated with Changping Decoction and the 38 cases in the control group were treated with Guchangzhixie Pellet orally.The treatment course was 30 days.The clinical effect was evaluated by therapeutic effect criterion,the change of main symptoms score and pathological changes score of mucosa after 15 days and the course. Results:The therapeutic effect of treatment group after 15 days was obviously superior to control group in treating main symptoms (P<0.01);after 30 days ,the effect of mucous-bloody excrement and tenesmus was obviously superior to control group(P<0.01),but inferior(P<0.05)in treating diarrhea after 30 days,and abdominal pain had no significant difference contrasted to control group(P>0.05).The effect in treating diarrhea,mucous-bloody excrement and tenesmus after 30 days was inferior to after 15 days (P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in treating abdominal pain(P>0.05).The difference of therapeutic effect between two group in treating fester and ulcer was very obvious(P<0.01),but in treating congestion and dropsy was not obvious (PO.05).The effect of treatment group was obviously superior to control group (P<0.01)in treating moderate UC,but had no significant difference in treating light and severe UC.The effect in treating chronic recurrent UC wassignificant contrasted with the control group (P<0.05),but the incipient and chronic lasting UC was not obvious (P>0.05).In the two groups the total effective rate were 90%(36/40)and 73.68%(28/38)respectively,and the difference was significant in statistics (P<0.01).Conclusion:Changping Decoction is effective for UC,especially for moderate and the chronic recurrent UC.The mechanism may be diminishing injury of inflammation and antipyrotic,spasmolysis,depressing CNS,antipyretic, analgystic,et al.Thus Changping Decoction treat UC by regulating the hole body and cure the sick colon at the same time.
