Study On Screening Immunosuppressive Fraction Of Esalpinia Sappan Lignum And Its Effect On The Apoptosis In Homotransplantation Myocardial Cell In Rats

Caesalpinia Sappan L (Sappan) is a kind of traditional Chinese medicinal materials which has the effects of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. In this study, the method of mix lymphocyte reaction (MLR) was employed in discovering the immumosuppressors from Sappan. The results showed four fractions (Sappan ethanol extract, Ethyl acetate A.R. extract, n-Bucanol extract and water extract) possess immumosuppressive activity,in which Sappan ethanol extract and n-Bucanol extract are much stronger. The main immunosuppressive fraction from Sappan may derive from Sappan n-Bucanol extract.The study investigated the immunosuppressive function of Sappan ethanol extract in rat allograft heterotopic heart transplantation model.The results showed grafts survival days increased significantly compared with control ones. Sappan ethanol extract can control the excessive apoptosis of allograft myocardium . myocardial pathologic damages were slight. Conclusion: Sappan ethanol extract has immunosuppressive function because it can prolong the survival days of transplanted heart and may have certain value in clinical organ transplantation.
