Stroke, an injury to the brain from a failure in blood flow or bleeding, is one of three main factors that cause death. In recent years, the treatments for stroke have been greatly improved, but they are seldom as effective as expected.According to the principle of central neurogenic neuroprotective electrical stimulation to the cerebellar fastigial nucleus, the instrument for neuroprotective treatment was designed based on electrical stimulation to the cerebellar fastigial nucleus. The stimulation waves synthesized by the carrier waveform signal and the modulated amplitude wave were analyzed in the aspect of adaptation to organism. The stimulation waves were composed of carrier waveform signals, which were square waves and non-polar differential exponent pulse waves, and modulated amplitude signals, which were periodic signals and random signals. With the adoption of the complex programmable logic device, such functions were fulfilled as the carrier waveform signals of all stimulation modes, the pulse for controlling the polarity of the waves constant current source and reference time produced. The EEG detection circuit was designed, in which using self-EEG was used to modulate amplitude of the carrier waveform. In order to produce bionic current as stimulation signal, AT89C51 microchip system and liquid crystal display were used design the single-chip system, which was applied to display EEG, to choose appropriate therapy parameters and to control therapy process. Its technical parameters included:(1) The electrical stimulation wave is constant current output (2) The maximal amplitude of output current is less than or equal 20mA(Itop≤20mA), The mean output current is less than or equal 3mA(Imean≤3mA)(3) The maximal amplitude of output voltage is less than or equal 35V (4) Self-bionic current and random signal modulating electrical stimulation wavesTo evaluate the therapeutic effect on cerebrovascular disease with the equipment, the clinical experiments on rats and patients were conducted that is to treat the rats and patients with acute cerebral infarction, stroke and cerebral hemorrhage. The results showed that regional cerebral blood flow was meliorated, the volume of focal ischemic infarctions was decreased, that water content in brain tissue obviously decreased, regional MPO activity more inactive, the brain injury is relieved. This instrument for Neuroprotective Treatment based on Electrical Stimulation to the Cerebellar Fastigial Nucleus is safe, non-invasive, convenient, low cost, practical, and of obvious therapy function. It also can be applied to treat brain trauma, ischemic ophthalmopathy, central retinal artery occlusion, and hemicrania, and to improve cognition function, and to benefit for the treatment of autonomic nervous cardiovascular disturbances after cerebral ischemia etc.
