Objective: To investigate the effects of Tangmoning Granule onadvanced glycosylation end products (AGE) in sciatic nerve , fructosamine (FRU) and blood glucose of Strepotozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Methods: Strepotozotocin-induced diabetic rats were randomly divided into Tangmoning big dosage (TMNB) group, Tangmoning moderate dosage (TMNM) -group and Tangmoning small dosage (TMNS) group treatment by Tangmoning Granule, Western medicine (WM) group treated by Diaformin and model control group., and there was also a nomal control group. The levels of advanced glycosylation end products (AGE) in sciatic nerve , fructosamine (FRU) and blood glucose of the animals were checked after 8 weeks. Results: Level of AGE in sciatic nerve in TMNB, TMNM, TMNS, WM and model control group were significantly increased than nomal control group(p<0. 01), in TMNB, TMNM, TMNS and WM it was lower than in model control group (p<0.01). In TMNS it was higher than in TMNB and WM. The level of FRU in TMNB and WM was lower than model control group (p<0. 01), TMNM too (p<0. 05). The level of blood glucose in model control group was higher than before (p<0. 01), TMNM and TMNS too (p<0. 05), it was not significantly different between before and after treatment in TMNB, WM and normal control group (p>0.05). Conclusion: Tangmoning Granule has a good result in decreasing AGE in sciatic nerve , FRU and blood glucose, it might be the therapeutic mechanism of treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy. The moderate dosage is the. suitable dosage.
