PURPOSE: To investigate the changes of tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in canine acute hemorrhage model treated with 6%hydroxyethyl starch(HES) and lactated Ringer's Solution(LR) in order tounderstand the effects on inmmune system of liquid resuscitation.METHOD: 12 healthy male canines were divided into 2 groups randomly with 6canines in each group. The canine acute hemorrhage model was set up afteranesthesia. 2 groups were treated with equal amount of 6% HES and 3 folds of LRas that of the blood lost in hemorrhage respectively. Plasma TNF-αand IL-6 weredetected by ELISA at time points of femoral phlebotomy , later stage ofhemorrhagic shock ( 90 minutes after exsanguinations), resuscitation completion, 1hour and 2 hours after resuscitation.RESULT All two groups showed dramatic increases in TNF-αand IL-6 afterhemorrhagic shock ( P < 0.01 ). The plasma TNF-αand IL-6 continually elevatedduring the course of resuscitation and reach a peak in 1 hour after resuscitation. However, the increased ranges in group treated with LR was remarkably higherthan the group treated with HES and the control group ( P < 0.01 ).CONCLUSION: Cytokines such as TNF-αand IL-6 are remarkably elevated 3å¹¿è¥¿åŒ»ç§‘å¤§å¦ 2001 çº§ç¡•å£«ç ”ç©¶ç”Ÿå¦ä½è®ºæ–‡during the course of shock and the consequent liquid resuscitation. Solelyintravenous infusion of lactated Ringer's solution has greater effects on theproinflammatory response after hemorrhage shock than the solely hydroxyethylstarch infusion.
