Objective To investigate the expressions of vascular epidermal growth factor(VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) in rats prostatic hyperplasitic tissues influenced by YiQiTongLinChongJi on the level of mRNA and protein. Methods To detect the expressions of VEGF. VEGFmRNA,bFGF and bFGFmRNA in 8 prostatic hyperplasia, 24 prostatic hyperplasia influenced by YiQiTongLinChongJi and proscar by In situ hybridization (ISH) and Immunohistochemistry. The expressions were analysed using Kruskal-wallis Test, Nemenyi Test and pathological study on the prostatic tissues. Results (1) The positive expressions of VEGF and VEGFmRNA in group of model withBPH, (+) were 25% (2/8) and 0 (0/8), (++) were 37.5% (3/8) and 25% (2/8), (+++) were 37.5% (3/8) and 75% (6/8); in group treated by high-dose YiQiTongLinChongJi, (+) were 25%(2/8) and25% (2/8) , (++) were 0 (0/8) and 12.5% (1/8) ,(+++) were 0 (0/8) and 12.5% (1/8); in team treated by low-doseYiQiTongLinChongJi, (+) were 25% (2/8) and 12.5% (1/8), (++)were 50% (4/8) and 50% (4/8) , (+++) were 0 (0/8) and 25%(2/8); in group treaded by proscar, (+) were 12.5%(1/8) and 25%(2/8) , (++) were 0 (0/8) and 12.5% (1/8) , (+++) was 0(0/8) each other. (2) The positive expressions of bFGF andbFGFmRNA in contrastive group,(+)were 12.5%(2/8)and 0(0/8),(++) were 37. 5% (3/8) and 37.5% (3/8), (+++)were 50% (4/8)and 62.5% (5/8) ; in group treated by high-doseYiQiTongLinChongJi, (+) were 37.5% (3/8) and 12.5% (1/8) ,(++) were 0 (0/8) and 37.5% (3/8) , (+++) was 0 (0/8) each other ; in group treated by low-dose YiQiTongLinChongJi, (+) were 12.5% (1/8) and 12.5% (1/8) , (++) were 50% (4/8) and 50% (4/8), (+++) were 12.5% (1/8) and 37.5% (3/8); in group treaded by proscar, (+) were 12.5%(l/8) and 12.5% (1/8) , (++) and 0 (0/8)and 12.5% (1/8), (+++) were 0 (0/8) and 12.5%(1/8). The results were analysed using Kruskal-wallis Test respectively. The difference of VEGF, VEGFmRNA, bFGF and bFGFmRNA were significant(p<0.01 and p<0.005).The resultswere analysed using Nemenyi Test respectively. The difference of the contrastive group, the group treated by high-dose of YiQiTongLinChongJi and proscar was significant (p<0.05) respectively. No significant difference was found between the contrastive group and the group treated by low-dose of YiQiTongLinChongJi. The difference of the group treated by high-dose of YiQiTongLinChongJi and the group treated by proscar was no significant (p>0.05). Conclusions (1) YiQiTongLinChongJi can wither the stromal, epidermal tissues of BPH and induce VEGF and bFGF on the level of inRNA and protein. (2) To guess the theory treating BPH is to inhibit VEGF and bFGF. (3) The theory inhibiting VEGF and bFGF is similar with proscar on the level of mRNA and protein.
