Objective: To evalutate the clinical value of multiphase biopsy of prostate gland guided by transrectal ultrasound in prostate cancer(PCA). Method: A total of 39 cases suspected PCA were biopsied with multiphase biopsy of prostate guided by transrectal ultrasound. First , the characteristics of the sonography were analyzed by transrectal ultrasound and the biopsy point were decided in the prostate gland .Then , they were examined with multiphase biopsy of prostate guided by transrectal ultrasound ,An automatic core biopsy device mounted on a transrectal ultrasound probe was used to direct biopsy by transrectal .First, systemic sextent biopsy : An average of six cores are taken from the base , mid and apex of the right and left lobes ; and then, two-three more cores in the nodule. Results:A total of 15 cases were confirmed prostate cancer (PCA) by pathology , 19 cases benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) , 3 cases atypical hyperplasia and 2 cases inflammation .The positive biopsy rate of PCA with multiphase biopsy (38.46 %) higher than that of systemic sextent biopsy (23.07 % ) .Conclusion:The multiphase biopsy of prostate guided by transrectal ultrasound has the advantages of easy manipulation, accuracy and satisfactory sampling , with few complication etc .The technique can increase early diagnose rate of prostate cancer; is helpful for diagnosis and differentiation of prostatic diseases; It has important clinical value of instrction treatment program and predict prognosis of prostate cancer .
