This paper presents the development of the nerve stimulator and puts forward the project of designing nerve stimulator and its executable solution by hardware and software. The nerve stimulator can stimulate the nerves of the patient and aim to cure aches and pains by producing the pulse signal with different frequency and amplitude.The nerve stimulator is made up of the inside body system and outside one. The outside system controls the inside one and it mainly includes the keyboard control, the LCD display and communication module transmitting control code and parameter of stimulating wave to inside body system. According to the received parameter, the inside body system produces pulse wave to stimulate nerve and suppress pain in order to cure disease. This paper will introduces detailedly the two systems.The outside system is a MCU system whose microcontroller is MSP430F449, a newly 16 bits ultralow Flash MCU made by the company of TI. The complete outside system includes the MCU controlling and handling circuit, keyboard control, LCD display, the sending circuit, the receiving circuit, fee serial communication interface, the analog switch controlling circuit and the power supply management circuit etc. Among these parts, the emphasis and difficulty of the design is to design the proper communication circuit. This part consists of the modulation and demodulation of the signal, the power amplifier of the sending circuit, the preamplifier and thesecondary amplifier of the receiving signal circuit and the antenna At the same time, when handling the data, we can make the operation even briefly and conveniently by the man-machine interactive interface. It may be keyboard, LCD and also be PC, which will have better effect and more humanizafion.The inside body system is also a MCU system and its microcontroller is MSP430F1121,a 16 bits ultralow Flash MCU newly made by the company of TI. It includes MCU controlling module, communication module, producing pulse wave module and other assistant module. Under the control of MSP430F1121,the inside body system can produce stimulating wave with different frequency, amplitude, duration and stimulation time and these parameters are received by the communication module from the outside system. Because the system is planted into human body, its volume and power consumption are limited. So micro volume and ultralow-power consumption are the most important consideration in the design of the inside body system.
