| Objective: To investigate the effect and discuss the mechanisms of the method of nourishing qi and quickening the blood and eliminating the phlegm, whose function is to estabilizing coronary atherosclerosis plaque. Method: 40 cases of unstable angina pectoris (UA)were randomly devided into two groups. Of which, 20 cases were set as treated group received the decoction to nourish qi and quicken the blood and eliminate the phlegm. While other 20 cases were set as control group treated with Simvastatin. At the same time, conventional western medical therapy was given to both groups. The treatment lasted for four weeks. Results: The results showed that compared to Simvastatin group treatment group could significantly improve UA sympotoms, increase blood supply of the heart, improve blood-lipid, decrease vessel active substance, and decrease inflammation. Statistics showed that the effects of treatment group were better than control group's(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusions: The method of nourishing qi and quickening the blood and eliminating the phlegm has the function of modulating endothelial function , decreasing blood-lipid and decreasing inflammation, which probably may account for the effect of stabilizing coronary atherosclerosis plaque.
