Objective: To investigate the clinical and pathologic features of gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST)Methods: Clinical and pathologic data of 46 cases with GIST from May 2002 to April 2004 were analyzed retrospectively. Results: The tumor was fourd in the stomach(58.7%);small intestine(28.3%),rectum(2.2%),canalis analis(2.2%) and retroperitoneal(8.6%),and malignant tumors accounted for 65.2% of the cases. The size of tumors and karyokinesis were correlated with the malignacy of GIST significantly(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the expression of CD 34 and CD117 is benign versus malignant GIST(P>0.05).Conclusions: The positive rate of diagnosis will be raised by several techniques combined. Tumor size and karyokinesis are a predictor of the malignancy of GIST. Local complete resection is the most efficient treatment procedure.
