Evodia Rutaecarpa, a traditional Chinese drug, which is the fruit of Evodia rulaecarpa (Juss) Benth, Evodia rulaecarpa (Juss) Benth var. officinalix (Dode) Huang, Evodia rulaecarpa (Juss) Benth var. bodinieri (Dode) Huang.Evodia rutaecarpa usually is called Wuyu- Milazi, which was recorded in the 《Shen Nong's Herbal》 firstly, in common use traditional Chinese medicine, taste bitter. Source of commodity mostly is planting, wildness is rare. Commodity consists of changdc wuyu-duwuyu- guangxiwuyu - jiangxiwuyu- chuanwuyu etc. Changde wuyu points at the production of guizhou tongren and hunanxinhuang. The production of guizhou tongren granule equal- colour and lustre green- fragrance strong, sapor acridity, quality excellent. Because guizhoutongren produces Evodia rutaecarpa in the gross and quality excellent, usually is looked as trueborn medicinal materials of guizhou, also is one of guizhou famous medicinal materials. The quality of Evodia rutaecarpa of hunan is the most best, which is trueborn medicinal materials of Evodia rutaecarpa,Evodia rutaecarpa has been used in the treatment of headache, abdominal pain, migrains, chill limbs, amenorrhage, stomachache, dysentery, nausea and hypertension. Modern pharmacological studies show that Evodia rutaecarpa have analgesic, sedative, antiseptic, antianxia and antihypersensitive activity. Traditional Chinese medicine curative base of substance is its constituents which take place a series of changes after entering economy. All these changes depend on a certain mechanism. Till now on, the studies of traditional Chinese medicine functionary mechanism have obtained great progress to a certain. But the studies of the pharmacology, they focus on the extraction of Evodia rutaecarpa, a little on the mechanism. In order to further elucidate the mechanism of Evodia rutaecarpa, elucidate its constituents, exploiting and utilizing it, we have carried through the studies of systemic chemical constituents, consequently adding new contents for Evodia rulaecarpa further research, adding new livingness for compound preparation research. This study has taken common traditional Chinese medicine chemical methods and techniques such as organic solvent distill, extraction, silica gel column chromatogram etc. We have obtained nine compounds from the fruits of Evodia rutaecarpa by the means of different extraction and isolation. On the basis of physical constants, chemical evidence and spectrum analysis (IR, MS, NMR), seven compounds structure have been identified. They respectively are three alkaloids, two sterols, one limonin and one organic acid. Alkaloids respectively areevodiamine, rutaecarpine, dehydroevodiamine; sterols are B-sitosterol, B- sitosterol-3- O- B-D- glucopyranoside separately; limonin is shihulimonin; organic acid is oleic acid. And shihulimonin is obtained firstly from Evodia rutaecarpa. This finding provides compound of forerunner for pharmacological activity, supplies for matterial for quality evaluation of different original Evodia rutaecarpa, offers new theory base for clinic curative effect. From the above, we have systemically analyzed the constituents of Evodia rutaecarpa which provide a certain theory base for its quality evaluation. It provides spectrum information for alkaloid, sterol and limonin, makes the officinal scope widely, establishes the base for the future research. To sum up, the achievements of this research are as follows:It was the first time to obtain one new compound from the fruits of Evodia rutaecarpa, by the different progress of the extraction and isolation. On the basis of physical contents, chemical evidence and spectrum analysis, and its structure has been elucidated as shihulimonin. It not only enriches the spectrum information for this kind of compounds but also provides the materials for pharmacological research.
