Objective: The study sought to evaluate the chang of plasma brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) and serum uric acid (UA)in chronic congestive heart failure(CHF),and the realatibnship with heart function and index of echogiaphy, and the diagnostic and prognostic value in CHF.Methods: 67 pations with decompensated CHF were evaluated with blood biochemistry, electrocardiogram, chest roentgeno:gram, echocardiogram, plasma brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) was evaluated with rapid BNP meter plus. Serum uric acid was evaluate with automatic analyse instrument.Among them.32 pations were without CHF. The controls were 10 healthy persons.Pations with CHF were followed up in three months, the end points were cardiovascular mortality and rehospitality with decompensatedheart failure. Results: Pations with CHF had higher plasma BNP than pations without CHF (636.0 ?59.4pg/mL VS 56.4+53.3 pg/mL,p<0.001 )and healthy controls (636.0?59.4pg/mLVS 18.6+17.3 pg/ mL, p<0.001). Pations with CHI' had higher serum UA than healthy controls(392.6?134.3 umol/L VS 275.0+65.1 umolL,, p<0.01).Plasma BNP and serum UA rised with deteriorate heart function..Pations with diffirent etiology in CHF had similar plasma BNP and serum UA.Plasma BNP were significantly realated with heart function (r=0.538,P<0.001), left-venteicular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD) (r=0.288,P<0.05) , left-venteicular end-systolic diameter(LVESD) < r=0.342,P<0.01 ) and left ejection fraction(LVEF) (r=-0.416, PO.OOl) .Serum UA were significantly realated with heart function (r=0.367,P<0.01), LVEDD (r=K).280,P<0.05) ,LVESD( r=0.257,P<0.05)and LVEF (r=-0.296,P<0.05) .Multiple regression analysis
