Treatment Of Ureteral Stones With The Use Of Ureteroscope And Pneumatic Lithotripter

ObjectivesTo investigate the therapeutic effects of pneumatic lithotripsy (PL) through ureteroscope in the treatment of ureterolithiasis.MethodsThe clinical application of rigid ureteroscopy in 132 cases were retrospectively analyzed.ResultsAmong the 132 cases, 127 had satisfactory therapeutic effects with the success rate of 89.4%(127/142). Complete fragmentation was achieved in 94.1%(64/68) of cases with lower, 86.8%(33/38) with mid and 83.3%(30/36) with upper ureteric calculi, respectively.ConclusionsPneumatic lithotripsy is an excellent form of treatment for ureteric calculi. It is a very reliable, highly effective, rapid and safe procedure.Improvement of the operation skills are the keys to increase the success rate and decrease the complication rate. Upper ureteric calculi may be treat with pneumatic lithotripter first.
