Objective: To observe effectiveness of clinical methods of treating angina pectoris of CHD by means of moving blood, strengthening Qi and dispelling sputum to remove obstruction of the collaterals with addition of seasonal herbs. Methods: 50 cases of blood stasis and sputum blockage due to deficiency of Qi. By using case-control study, the treatment group (30 cases) was given Seasonal Wen Dan Tang, the control group (20 cases) was given Wen Dan Tang. Result: In the treatment group, the remarkable effectiveness of angina pectoris is 60%, the total effectiveness 93.3%; the remarkable effectiveness of TCM symptoms is 56. 7%, the total effectiveness is 83.4% respectively. The statistics revealed a significant difference between the treatment group and the control group (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). The level of TG, HDL-C and LDL-C were lowered. Conclusion: Qi deficiency, blood stasis and sputum blockage are basic causes of CHD. With addition of seasonal herbs, tonifying Qi, promoting blood circulation and dispelling sputum is an effective and a positive therapeutic method.
