Background and objective: To investigate the effect of mycophenolate mofetil and its mechanism on experimental induced crescentic nephritis in mouse. Methods:Experimental crescentic nephritis was induced by injection of anti-GBM serum after rabbit IgG subcutaneous injection. Rats were randomly divided into three groups: control , only with IgG injection.; model group, IgG injection followed by anti-GBM serum subcutaneous injection 5 days later; interference group, with anti-GBM serum injection and mycophenolate mofetil gastric lavage(20mg/kg.d). Twenty-four hour urine protein level, serum albumin, creatine, and BUN were tested two weeks later. Crescent formation and nephrosclerosis were visualized by PAS and HE stain. Renal MCP-1, TGF- β 1, type I collagen expression and monocyte/macrophage infiltration were studied by immunohistochemistry. Results: Increased 24h urine protein and crescent formation and nephrosclerosis on histological examination were significantly attenuated by the treatment of mycophenolate mofetil (p < 0. 01) . There are no changes of serum creatine, BUN, and...
