[ Objective] To study the relationship between lymphangiogenesis with the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor C(VEGF-C) and VEGFR-3 in human gastric carcinoma.[ Methods ] Samples of 41 gastric carcinoma were studied using anti-VEGF-C and anti-VEGFR-3 antibodies. SRCA was carried out with fresh explants of human gastric carcinoma in immunosuppressed mice and the expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 were detected.[Results] VEGF-C expression in gastric carcinoma were associating with the differentiation of tumor cells(P=0.024).Expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 in gastric carcinoma were associated with lymph node metastasis(P=0.011 and F=0.020 respectively) and lymphatic invation(P=0.004 and P=0.007 respectively).A significant positive correlation was found between VEGF-C in cancer cell and VEGFR-3 in lymphatic endothelial cell(P=0.000, Kappa=0.754).[ Conclusions ] VEGF-C in gastric carcinoma is related tolymphangiogenesis via VEGFR-3, as well as to the occurrence and development of gastric carcinoma.
