Objectives: To investigate and compare the expression of endometrial leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) during mid-luteal phase between those secondory infertilities(control group 1) who have a obstruction of oviduct and patients with unexplained infertility(study group l),and the expression of decidual LIF between early pregnancy(control group 2) and mifepristone induced abortion (study group 2) .And further provide clinical information for diagnosis and management for unexplained infertility and contraception.Methods: By immunohistochemical analysis, the expressions of endometrial and decidual LIF were detected with quantitative analysis to the grey degree of immunohistochemical staining for LIF by HPIAS - 1000 and collected the pictures by JPEG system.Results: The grey degree of immunohistochemical staining for LIF in grandularepithelial cells , luminal epithelial cells of study group 1 have not statistics significances (P>0.05 ) . And the grey degree of immunohistochemical staining for LIF between grandular epithelial cells , luminal epithelial cells and stroma cells of study group 1 have statistics significances (P<0.05 ) . The grey degree of immunohistochemical staining for LIF in grandular epithelial cells , luminalepithelial cells -. stroma cells of control group 1 have statistics significances (PO.05) .The expressions of LIF in grandular epithelial cells are the highest and lowest in stroma cells. The grey degree of immunohistochemical staining for LIF in grandular epithelial cells ?. luminal epithelial cells % stroma cells between control group 1 and study group 1 have statistics significances respectively (P<0.05) . The grey degree of immunohistochemical staining for LIF of decidual cells in grandular epithelial cells ^ stroma cells of study group 2 and control group 2 respectively has statistics significances P<0.01. The expression in grandular epithelial cells is higher than in stroma cells. And the grey degree of immunohistochemical staining for LIF of decidual cells in grandular epithelial cells > stroma cells between study group 2 and control group 2 respectively have not statistics significances P>0.05.Moreover, the expressions of LIF in luminal epithelial cells -> grandular epithelial cells> decidua cells and stroma cells can be dectected in both plasma and nucleusConclusions: The expressions of endometrial LIF during mid-luteal phase and of decidual LIFr in early pregnancy make a difference in locations. The lower expression of LIF during mid-luteal phase in grandular epithelial cells and luminal epithelial cells and stroma cells might be one of the primary causes of unexplained infertility. Maybe mifepristone is not induced abortion by the decreased expression of decidual LIF.
