Studies On The Quality Of Huzhang Nanxing

Objective: To provide the scientific data to establish the quality standards of Huzhang Nanxing, carrying out the studies on SOP operational discipline and quality standards of Huzhang Nanxing.Methods: First use Pharmacognosy methods to investigate the external appearance of original plant and issue characteristic of Huzhang Nanxing. Observation on leaves,fruits,testa surface and pollen grain by scanning electron microscope were assayed in original plant;Then,according to the Pharmacopoeia of the Peple's Republic of China (2000 Edition) measure the water, ash and extract contents of Huzhang Nanxing. Adopt anthrone colorimety method to determine the contents of carbohydate components and use gravimetric analysis to measure the contents of total alkaloid in Huzhang Nanxing. Last, utilize FT-IR and HPLC to invent the fingerprint of Huzhang Nanxing.Results: According to the assay results formulate the fine external appearance quality standard. The quality standard of Huzhang Nanxing requires as the following: water content should be not more than 13.5%, total ash not more than 6.5%, water extract not less than 15.0%, ethanol extract not less than 8.0% and chloroform not less than 1.30%, soluble carbohydate not less than 2.4% and crude polysaccharide not less than 24.0%,total alkaloid not less than 0.4%. Tentatively define the IR finger area and HPLC fingerprint of Huzhang Nanxing.Conclusions: This paper provides scientific data on establishing the quality standards of Huzhang.
