Clinical Study Of The Point-Through-Point Of Back On Primary Fibromyalgia Syndrom

Objective: To study the clinical curative effect of the fibromyalgia syndrome and the influence of concomitant symptom with the acupuncture by the point-through-point of back method in the treatment.Method: Forty patients with fibromyalgia syndrome were randomly divided into curing group and comparing group. The former was treated with acupuncture and the later by oral amitriptyline, adopting visual analog scores (VAS) and the number of pressure pain point to measure the patient's condition changes.Result: Among acupuncture therapy group, nine patients recovered and three did in comparing group. The total effective rate of acupuncture therapy group is 85.0% and that of amitriptyline therapy group is 65.0%. Statistics shows that acupuncture has better effect in treatment of fibromyalgia syndrome than amitriptyline in clinical curative effect (P < 0.05).At the end of study, total the VAS pain index and the number of pressure pain point in both groups, had significantly improved than those before the treatment (P < 0.01).Acupuncture has. better effect in VAS pain index and the number of pressure pain point than amitriptyline has (P < 0.05).The side effects and abnormity of laboratory examination on amitriptyline developed more frequently than those of acupuncture except Yun Zhen (P < 0.01).Conclusion: The acupuncture method of the point-through -point of back is effective and safe way in treating fibromyalgia syndrome and can obviously improve patient's pain and concomitant symptom.
