Objective To study the relationship between macro-vascularcomplication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and serum high sensitiveC-reactive protein (hs-CRP) level; to explore correlation between factorsaffecting the process of macro-vascular complication of T2DM and hs-CRPlevel. Methods eighty-eight patients with T2DM were divided into twogroups: A group of 40 patients without macro-vascular diseases, B groupof 44 patients with macro-vascular diseases. Their hs-CRP and other indexwere measured. 30 healthy subjects were served as a control group. Results serum hs-CRP level was significantly increased in T2DM groupcompared with control group(P<0.01); hs-CRP level in B group wassignificantly higher than that in A group(P<0.01).And also comparingof other index in A and B group, the differences of the level of systolicblood pressure(SBP), the level of fasting serum insulin(Fins) and HOMA-IRwere significant(P value less than 0.01,0.01 and 0.03 respectively). Here, stepwise regress was applied to filter which and how much degrees of theindex affected to hs-CRP level among the T2DM patients, as a result thechange of hs-CRP was affected by SBP, body mass index(BMI),tri-glycerinate(TG) and Fins positively, the ranking was Fins>SBP>BMI>TG.Conclusions The increasing of hs-CRP was closely associated withincident of macro-vascular complication in T2DM。The change of hs-CRPlevel maybe play a role of bridge in pathologic developing towards T2DMmacro-vascular complications. We clinical physicians can also takeadvantage of it to slower down the development of T2DM macro-vasculardisease.
