Surgical Treatment Of Tibial Plateau Fracture

Objective:To discuss the selection of surgical method and its clinical effect depending upon types of tibial plateau fracture. Methods:We studied, the clinical data of 63 cases with the fracture of tibial plateau whom had been treated by opening reduction and internal fixation between 2002.10 and 2004.10.simple screw was adopted in 10 cases, plate type T in 28, plate type L in 12 and GLOF anatomical plate in 13.The injury of the ligament and meniscus was explored and treated simultaneously. The early passive functional training was performed after operation. Results: 63cases were followed up for 6 month to 2 years. Results were rated excellent in 32,good in 19, fair in 7, and poor in 5. 80.95% excellent or good results were obtained. Conclusion: Open reduction and internal fixation can be used for the treatment of the complex fractures of the tibial plateau. The following may be the key to get the good results : â‘ The methods of fixation should be chosen according to the type of fracture and the severity of soft tissue injure. â‘¡To enhance the technique of operation. â‘¢The early functional exercises without weight by CPM should be promised. systemic treatment is emphasized.
