Surgical Treatment Of Fractures Of The Tibial Plateau

Objective: To study surgical treatment of fractures of the Tibial Plateau. Methods: Ninty-two cases (eighty-nine patients) of tibial plateau fractures were treated with internal fixation from January 1999 to October 2005 in our hospital.A coording to Schatzker classification, typeâ… 12 cases, typeâ…¡17 cases, typeâ…¢10 cases, typeâ…£8 cases, typeâ…¤25 cases and typeâ…¥20 cases. Typeâ… were treated with open reduction and fixation with screws, other types were treated with open reduction and internal fixation with anatomy plates or screws( except the serious open fractures) . And bone grafts were used when severe bone defect after reduction. Results:Of ninty-two cases, 78 were followed up for 4 to 30 months (averagely 11 months). The excellent and good rate was 89.74% based on Rasmussen scale for knee joint. Conclusion: fractures of the Tibial Plateau should be treated surgically, operative technique shoud be according to different fracture type and different technical level.
