| Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common malignant tumor in oral. And operation is the primary therapy. At present the important reason of the failure is recurrence or displacement. At the same time the patient need the removable denture because of the tissue defect. But the prosthetic restoration always can not get favourable retention and stabilization for the big and heavy restoration itself and the little supporting tissue. Denture adhesives are dental drugs available over the counter. It can produce adherence between the denture and its supporting tissue and can increase the retention and stabilization of the denture. So the patients who suffered tumor can use the denture adhesive to increase the retention and stabilization of the denture after the operation. Medicine also can be added into it, which can make it be the carrier of the medicine for the oral mucosa. PurposeBased on the reasons mentioned above, in this research, we added traditional Chinese medicine into it and try to research and develop a new denture adhesive which can be anticancer and increase the retention and stabilization of thedenture.Materials and methodsTetrazolium bromide colorimetric assay was used to assess the cytotoxicity of the APAC I denture adhesive. After the traditional Chinese medicine was added into it, test the APACIII denture adhesive's cytotoxicity to the fibroblast and KB cell line. After that the retention of the denture adhesive was tested. Assess the result by SPSS 11.5 software. Results1. The cytotoxicity grade of the APAC I denture adhesive is "0~ 1".2. The cytotoxicity grade to the KB cell line of the APACIII denture adhesive is "3-4".3. The cytotoxicity grade to the fibroblast of the APACIII denture adhesive is "1~2".4. Simulate the patient with denture in vitro. Test the change of different denture adhesive's retention by INSTRON material test machine. The retention of the denture adhesive decreased with the increase of the drug concentration. However, the retention of the denture adhesive with low drug concentration is close to the retention of APAC I denture adhesive. So that denture adhesive should be a kind of denture adhesive which can be anticancer and increase the retention and stabilization of the denture.ConclusionsThe cytotoxicity grade of the APAC I denture adhesive is "0~l". With the additive traditional Chinese medicine, APACIII denture adhesive should be a dental praeparatum which can be anticancer and increase the retention and stabilization of the denture. |
