Objective To investigate the expression of Ubiquitin, PR and apoptosis in endometriosis, to approach their roles in pathogenesis, and to explore their relationships with endometriosis. Methods Histological sections of samples from 35 cases not only with ovarian ectopic cyst but also with adenomyosis were detected for the expressions of Ubiquitin and PR by immunohistochemistry;HE stain sections were detected for apoptosis. In 26 endometrium of normal controls. Results In endometriosis cases, the expression of Ubiquitin was higher and PR was lower than that of controls (P<0. 05);while apoptosis was significantly lower than that of controls (P<0. 05). The expression of Ubiquitin or PR was higher in adenomyosis than that in ovarian cyst(P<0.05), but it just the same when compared with its own eutopic endometrium. While comparing the eutopic endometrium with normal tissues, the expression of Ubiquitin was higher and PR was lower(P<0.05).Conclusion Our findings suggested that the increased expression of Ubiquitin and decreased expression of PR in ectopic endometrium might play an important role in pathogenesis of endometriosis. PR was down-regulated by Ubiquitin through UPP;meanwhile apoptosis was inhibited. Perhaps adenomyosis and ovarian ectopic cyst were two different kinds of diseases. The differenciation of eutopicendometrium between persons with and without endometriosis might be a crucial cause in pathogenesis of endometriosis. Stroma cells mightbe contributed to the development of endometriosis.
