ObjectiveTo detect the expression of Transforming Growth Factor - β1 ( hereinafter called as TGF - β1 ) , and Connective Tissue Growth Factor ( hereinafter called as CTGF) in the different stages of hepatic fibrosis, in order to clarify their relationship with the start and development of hepatic fibrosis and inflammatory injury. Meanwhile, to evaluate their correlation with the other commonly used serum markers and hepatic fibrosis.MethodsThis study includes 41 patients of chronic viral hepatitis, with whom liver puncture was performed. TGF - β1 and CTGF were detected with immunohisto-chemistry method. The other commonly used serum fibrosis markers were detected with ELISA, and then to analyze the data of TGF - β1 and CTGF with multi - media.Results1. When grouped by hepatic fibrosis (S) , the optical density of TGF - β1 and CTGF increases linearly with the elevation of fibrosis stage, except S1 and S2 stage, where there is no difference in terms of statistics. (The value of F is 49.56 and 23.01 and p <0.05) When grouped by activeness of inflammation ( G) , there are no significant differences between every two groups of G{, G2 , G3, and G4 of TGF - Bj, and Gx, G2, and G3 of CTGF. However, it is statistically meaningful in G4 of CTGF.2. There is positive correlation between TGF - Bt and CTGF in hepatic tissue (r is 0. 855). There is also positive correlation between TGF - Bj and serums of PCIII, LN, HA, and IVC ( r is 0. 744, 0. 815, 0. 756, and 0. 742 respectively);between CTGF and serums of PCIII, LN, HA, and IVC (r is 0. 663 , 0. 690, 0. 686, and 0. 640 respectively).ConclusionThere is close relationship in the expression of TGF - B, and CTGF and the degree of hepatic fibrosis, especially in the early stage of hepatic cirrhosis, when the expression of CTGF is more reliable.
