Object: We study the inflammatory mechanism of tianxiangdan granule (TXDG) in treatment on UAP by observing the changes of hsCRP, and MMP-2 after four weeks, treatment on 42 cases of unstable angina pectoris.Method: 42 cases were randomized to two groups. 21 cases as treatment group, in which a basic western medicine combined with tianxiangdan granule be applied. 21 cases as control, in which a basic western medicine be given. All data were compared after four weeks' treatment. The blood samples were drawn from venous in the morning just before and after four weeks' treatment. The concentration of hsCRP and MMP-2 is determined by ELISA.Results: 1. After treatment, the clinical symptoms of TCM improved in all cases (P<0.01), the total effective rate of clinical symptoms of TCM in Tianxiangdan granule group are bigger than that of control group (P<0.05).2. After treatment, the total effective rate of electrocardiogram (ECG), improved in all cases, but the differences of total effective rates of ECG between two groups were not significant (P>0.05).3. It was significantly superior in tianxiangdan grangle group than in control group, which angina attacked, carbonite tablet was wasted were mended (P< 0.05).4. The serum concentration of hsCRP, MMP-2 was lower after thanbefore treatment in two groups.5. The AhsCRP (different value after and before treatment) and A MMP-2 in Tianxiangdan granule group are bigger than that of control group (P<0.05).6. During following up, the incidence of acute cardiac events in treatment group was lower than that of control group (4.76% VS 14.29%).Conclusion: Tianxiangdan granule has good effects on patients with UAP. After treatments, the serum concentration of hsCRP, MMP-2 decreased significantly and the incidence of acute cardiac events also decreased. All of these results indicate that the anti-inflammatory mechanism may be one of the effective mechanisms of Tianxiangdan granule in treatment on UAP.
