Objective: To explore the clinicopathologic significance of the protein expression of E--cadherin(E--cad), cell cycle regulator cyclinD1, as well as proliferative cell nuclear antigen Ki--67 in invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast. Methods: Immunohistochemical EnVision method was used to detect the expression of E--cad, cyclinD1 and Ki--67protein in 63 cases with IDC(the IDC group), 15cases with adenoma and 15 cases with adenosis(the constrast group). Result: The positive rates of E--cad protein expression were 58.73% in IDC, 80%in adenoma and adenosis, respectively. The positve rates of cyclinD1 protein expression were 68.25% in IDC, 23.33% in adenoma and adenosis, respectively. The positive rates of Ki--67 showed differences between the carcinoma group and the adenoma and adenosis group. Their positive expression rates was 65.08%, 16.67%, respertinely. There were significant difference between the two groups in the expression of E--cad, cyclinD1, Ki--67(P<0.05). At the same time, the expression of E--cad and cyclinD1 protein was correlated to lymph node metastasis in IDC(P<0.05). The expression of E--cad and cyclinD1 was correlated to the grade of tissue science.But there was no correlation between expression of E--cad, cyclinD1 and Ki--67with tumor size and patient's age.
