Objective: To study the mechanism of scalp penetration acupuncture treating acute cerebral infarction.Method: 69 cases with acute cerebral infarction were randomly divided into the bilateral scalp penetration acupuncture group, the unilateral scalp penetration acupuncture group and the west medicine group (control group) , 23 cases in each group. On the basis of west medicine treatment, the unilateral scalp penetration acupuncture group was treated by hemiplegic scalp penetration acupuncture and bilateral scalp penetration acupuncture group was treated by hemiplegic and healthy scalp penetration acupuncture.1.The change of contents of vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF ) were detected by enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay(ELISA).2. The change of infarct volume was detected by CT or MRI.3. To observe the nervous dysfuncti-onal marks.4. To observe the activities of daily living scale.5. To assess the curative effect of patients. Result:1. After treatment, the contents of VEGF in serum were raised in the there groups. The difference was obvious before and after treatment in each group (P<0.01 ) . Moreover, the two penetration acupuncture groups were superior to the control group (P<0.05) , and the bilateral scalp penetration acupuncture group was superior to the unilateral scalp penetration acupuncture group (P<0.05 ) .The contents of VEGF in serum of acute cerebral infarction patients were higher than the normal contents and the contents still did not decrease to the normal level after ten days (P<0.01) .2. The infarct volume was descented in the there groups and thedifference was obvious before and after treatment in each group (P<0.01) . The two scalp penetration acupuncture groups were superior to the west medicine group (P<0.01) , the bilateral scalp penetration acupuncture group was superior to the unilateral scalp penetration acupuncture group (P<0.05) .3. After treatment, the nervous functional marks were descented in the there groups. The difference was obvious before and after treatment in each group (P<0.01) . The two scalp penetration acupuncture groups were superior to the west medicine group ( P<0.05 ) . Moreover, the bilateral scalp penetration acupuncture group was superior to the unilateral scalp penetration acupuncture group (P<0.05) .4. After treatment, the marks of life quality BI were ascented in the there groups (P<0.01) . The two scalp penetration acupuncture groups were superior to the west medicine group(P<0.05).Moreover, the bilateral scalp penetration acupuncture group was superior to the unilateral scalp penetration acupuncture group (P<0.05) .Conclusion: The scalp penetration acupuncture is able to raise the contents of VEGF in serum, keep higher level, advance hypoxide induced of vascular endothelial cells and forming of the new vascular, sothat, protecting the cerebrum. The scalp penetration acupuncture is able to improve the clinical symptom and life quality, and it is an effective method of treating acute cerebral infarction.
