Family Labiatae is widely distributed in our country, it has a lot of species that the most of them have been used as traditional folk medicine herb by local practitioner in China. The genus Isodon of family Labiatae have been proved to be a rich source of ent-kaurena diterpenoids with various biological activity for their anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-tumor activities, previous studies on this genus plants have revealed that their chemical constituents are difference in the same species grown in different area. In order to further study on the chemical constituents of this genus and find higher biological activity substances with new skeleton structure, three species of family Labiatae grown in Taibai mountain, Shaanxi province have been subjected to chemical constituent investigations. It was mainly those studies of this paper that some diterpenoids and essential oils were extracted from Isondon henryi(Hemsl.) Kudo, and the essential oils extracted from Phlomis umbrosa Turcz and Medicinal herb 1. All those essential oils were tested against some microorganisms including Escherichia coli (ATCC25922), Salmonella typhi (50127), Salmonella enteritidis (50040), Salmonella typhimurium (50013), Shigella flexneri (51065), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC25925) and Candida albicans (85021) that have relative with some diseases about the digestive system, and their chemical constituents of all essential oils were analyzed and identified by the use of GC-MS and GC.From the leaves and tender branches of Isodon henryi, two new diterpenoids: new compound G and new compound H;seven known diterpenoids: Rabdosianin A, Rabdosianin B, Shikokianin, Enanderianin C, Longikaurin F, Hinokiol and Taibaihenryiin C;two triterpenoids: Oleanolic acid and Ursolic acid were separated and identified in this paper. Enanderianin C and Hinokiol were the first isolated from Isodon henryi collected from Taibai mountain, and other five known diterpenoids had been reported to be isolated from this species collected from the other regions. Configuration and conformation of hinokiol was also characterized by crystal X-ray structure analysis, all known diterpenoids and triterpenoids were elucided on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis. The molecular configuration and conformation ofnew compound G and new compound H were characterized on basis of FABMS, element analysis and NMR spectra(including 2D NMR spectra). The essential oils were obtained from the leaf, the flower, and the seed of Isodon henryi grown in Taibai mountain respectively, by the steam distillation methods, and their chemical composition were analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, The relative contents of chemical composition of the essential oils were confirmed by area normalization method. 39 compounds were characterized in the essential oil of Isodon henryi. 18, 19 and 23 compounds were identified in the essential oils from the leaf, flower, and seed, respectively, in which only 6 compounds were identified simultaneously in three essential oils. The result shows that their chemical composition of the essential oils from the leaf, flower, and seed have a lot difference. But the main chemical composition of their essential oils were monoterpenoids, sesquiterpenoids and diterpenoids compounds agreeing with previous studies that were extracted from the other Isodon. The results of the antimicrobial activities of three essential oils showed that the essential oils inhibit the growth of 6 testing bacterias and 1 testing pathogenic yeast, and the essential oil from the leaf showed higher antimicrobial activity (MIC 0.78uL/ml, MBC 0.78uL/ml) especially against Salmonella typhi 50127. The essential oils were obtained from the leaf and the flower of Phlomis umbrosa Turcz grown in Taibai mountain respectively, by the steam distillation methods, and their chemical composition were analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, The relative contents of chemical composition of the essential oils were confirmed by area normalization method. 55 compounds were characterized in the essential oil of Phlomis umbrosa Turcz flower, the main chemical composition of the essential oil of Phlomis umbrosa Turcz flower were a-linalool, phthalic acid diisobutyl ester, toluene, diphenylamine, l-octen-3-ol, etc. 53 compounds were characterized in the essential oil of Phlomis umbrosa Turcz leaf, the main chemical composition of the essential oil of Phlomis umbrosa Turcz leaf were a-linalool, l-octen-3-ol, epiglobulol, acetophenone, 2-pinen-4-one, etc. Their chemical compositions of the essential oils from the leaf and flower were different, and main compositions were also different. The results of the antimicrobial activities of the essential oils from the leaf and flower inhibit the growth of 6 testing bacterias and 1 testing pathogenic yeast, and especially against Salmonella enteritidis (50040).The essential oils were obtained from the leaf and the flower of medicinal herb 1grown in Taibai mountain respectively, by the steam distillation methods, and their chemical composition were analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, The relative contents of chemical composition of the essential oils were confirmed by area normalization method. 45 compounds were characterized in the essential oil of Medicinal herb 1 leaf, the main chemical composition of the essential oil of Medicinal herb 1 leaf were caryophyllene, 2-pinen-4-one, cadina-l(10),4-diene, acetophenone, etc. The relative content of caryophyllene is very high , its content reached to 19.42%. 35 compounds were characterized in the essential oil of Medicinal herb 1 flower by CG-MS, the main chemical composition of the essential oil obtained from medicinal herb 1 were caryophyllene, caryophyllene oxide, 3-methylene-7p-methyl-4a-isopropyl -2,3,3aa,3ba,5,6,7-ctahyro-Hcyclopenta[ 1,3]cyclopropa[ 1,2]benzene, acetophenone, etc. Their chemical composition of the essential oils from the leaf and flower were different, and main compositions were also different, so this result shows that the antimicrobial activities of their essential oils were also different. The results of the antimicrobial activities of the essential oils from the leaf and flower inhibit the growth of 6 testing bacterias and 1 testing pathogenic yeast, but the essential oil from the flower showed higher antimicrobial activity especially against Escherichia coli (ATCC25922), Salmonella typhi (50127), Salmonella enteritidis (50040) and Shigella Flexneri (51065), their MICs are 0.78jiL/ml, the MBC of Salmonella typhi (50127) is 0.78uL/ml, this result showed that the essential oil from the flower have very higher antimicrobial activity. The further studies of the other antimicrobial activity of the essential oil from the flower have momentous current significance and biological value.
