Experimental Study On Anti-tumor Activity Of Extracts From Folium Artemisiae Argyi In Vitro And Its Mechanisms

Medication is is important in treatment of tumor. It is one of important tasks that the integrated TCM oncology with western medicine should solve the actual problems instructed by the theory of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory,combined newest achievements in the technology of modern science are applied to the pre-phase research of Folium Artemisiae Argyi, an anti-tumor TCM with reliable effect and unknown effective constituents.Folium Artemisiae Argyi, as a traditional Chinese medicine,is first recorded in the Chinese medical work"MING YI BIE LU".It has a bitter, pungent and warm nature and it enters the liver,spleen and kidney channels.It has the effects of moxibustion on all diseases, regulating Qi and the Blood, relieving pains, protect growth of the fetus, warming the stomach, warming channels and blocking blood, killing insect and relieving itch,stoping diarrhea, relieving fullness,etc. It is widely used for tumor, gynecological disease, respiratory disease, digestive system disease, skin disease, rheumatic arthralgia, ague,etc, the effect were remarkable.On the basis of references that have been published and survey on the resources, Folium Artemisiae lavandulaefolia DC.(Ay) and Folium Artemisiae argyi Levl.et Vant.cv.qiai (Aq) which both are the most widely used, had been collected and identified. The technique of solvent-refining was used to extract different parts of Folium Artemisiae argyi, the normal hexane, ethanol, ethyl acetate(EtOAc), n-butanol (n-BuOH)extracts of Aq and Ay are extracted.We observed the influence of different extracts from Folium Artemisiae Argyi on growth of different cancer cell strains by MTT method. It has be found out that the EtOAc extract and the n-BuOH extract of Ay, the EtOAc extract and the n-BuOH extract of Aq can inhibit the growth of cancer cell strains SGC-7901, SMMC-7721, Hela.
