Objective To evaluate the expression of Ezrin protein and CD44-V6 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, its relationship with lymph node metastasis (LNM) and histological grading were studied by the tissue microarray technology. Methods The expression of Ezrin protein and CD44-V6 in 71 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) was studied using immunohistochemical (S-P) method. The correlation of each score according to the intensity and percentage of labeled cells or intercellular substance with relevant clinical date was statistically analyzed.Result In normal esophageal squamous epithelia (3cm or more away from malignant tissue), the expression of Ezrin protein was found in 33 cases among 71 cases (positive rate 46%), the expression of CD44-v6 was found in 18 cases among 71 cases (positive rate 25%). In esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, the expression of Ezrin protein was found in 64 cases among 71 cases (positive rate 90%), the expression of CD44-v6 was found in 58 cases among 71 cases (positive rate 82%). The...
