Objective: To compare the effects of PCI with medical therapy in patients with stable single-vessel coronary artery disease, to explore the clinical strategy. Methods : 60 patients with single-vessel lesion and with exercise-induced myocardial ischemia were chosen , who were hospitalization from January 2003 to December 2004 , 31 cases(group A)underwent percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) , 29 cases(group B)received medical therapy alone . Group A underwent the percutaneous coronary intervention within three days after confirmed diagnosis by coronary angiography .After the procedure they received aspirin 100mg per os q.d after clopidogrel 75mg per os q.d and aspirin 0.3g per os q.d for one month at least. At the same time , they received ?-blockade , ACEI and lipid-lowering medication in order to get the target level of control .Control target of blood pressure is not more than 130/85mmHg , total cholesterol less than 4.68mmol/L , and fasting blood-glucose less than 7.0mmol/L , glycosylhemoglobin less than 7.0% . Group B received medical therapy only .There was no significant difference in the base-line characteristics between the two groups. Patients of both groups received repeat exercise test at six-month follow-up . Their ischemic angina was observed during the same period.Result : (1) recurrent angina : 2 cases in Group A(6.45%) vs. 11cases in Group B(42.3%) had recurrent angina (p<0.05) .(2) exercise test: 2 patients in Group A (6.45%) and 19 patients in Group B(76%) had positive results in exercise test (p<0.005) .(3) follow-up procedure : There...
