BACKGROUND AND PURPOSESIdiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by a low platelet count and mucocutaneous bleeding.ITP is classified as acute (of six months or less in duration) or chronic.ITP in children is generally acute. In 80 percent of children, the illness resolves within six months irrespective of whether they receive therapy. However, the illness in 20 percent of children developed into chronic, even refractory ITP because of bad therapeutic effect. At present the therapy of ITP in clinic is either expensive or adverse, such as intravenous immune globulin, immunosuppressant and hormone. Recently,it is suggested that CD4~+T helper cells and the cytokines that they produce play an important role in the pathogenesis in ITP. Activated CD4~+T helper cells overexpress CD40L in a limited time ,provide proliferation and differentiation signals to B cells and APC cells by CD40L/CD40 interaction. Thus, the signal pathway of CD40L/CD40 plays key role in cell immunity and humoral immunity. It had been observed that T and B lymphocytes isolated from...
