Establishing the animal model of temporal epilepsy in rat injected by Kainic acid (KA) is to test the changed levers of neuron-specific enolase (NSE),S-100βand mylin basic protein (MBP) in serum of rats with epilepsy and to observe the changes of cell apoptosis , to judge the brain damage degree after seizure. Objective Seeking the biochemical indexes for early diagnosis in brain damage after seizure is to discuss the treatments of epilepsy in the future. Methods An animal model of temporal epilepsy was established to be observed the changes of its behavior and electroencephalogram (EEG) by stereotactic operation in being injected KA into rat's hippocampus. The experimental animal center in SuZhou University provided healthy male Sprague-Dawley(SD)48 rats. The rats were divided into 8 groups by random:non- -treated group (n=6),control-treated group (n=6), each period of 3h,6h,12h,24h,48h and 72h time after seizure (each sub-group:n=6) . The levels of NSE,S-100βand MBP in serum of rats with temporal epilepsy were measured at the time of 3h,6h,12h,24h,48h and 72h after seizure. And the pathological changes of rat's hippocampus were observed by HE dyeing method and TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) method. Results (1) Establishing the animal model of temporal epilepsy in rat injected by KA was successful. (2) The rats injected by KA gradually occurred changed behaviors and EEG. (3) The level of NSE in serum increased gradually and was the highest at the time of 24h after seizure. Compared control-treated group, there were statiscally significance(P<0.01). (4) The level of S-100βin serum increased gradually and was the...
