Rhizoma Alismatis Orientalitis are the dried tuber of Alisma orientalis (Sam.) Juzep. They are the kind of Chinese Traditional Medicine (TCM) in common use. Medical material samples and decoction pieces samples of Rhizoma Alismatis Orientalitis were collected from different habitats. The 23-acetyl alisol B in different Rhizoma Alismatis Orientalitis samples was determined by RP-HPLC- ELSD, and chromatographic fingerprints for Rhizoma Alismatis Orientalitis were established by HPLC-ELSD and TLC. These provide a reference for quality assessment for medical material and decoction pieces of Rhizoma Alismatis Orientalitis. Establishment of TLC and HPLC-ELSD chromatographic fingerprint for Rhizoma Alismatis Orientalitis provide a reference for quality assessment for medical material and decoction pieces of Rhizoma Alismatis Orientalitis.(1) The Evaporative Lightscattering Detector is a universal detector for HPLC, as it does not rely on the optical properties of the analyte. When wavelengths for maximal UV absorption are under 200 nm in natural products, the detection result by ELSD can be a better reproducibility and accuracy due to avoiding the drift of baseline. The primary components in Rhizoma Alismatis Orientalitis are terpenoids which don't have UV absorption. Content of alisol B 23-acetate in medical material samples and decoction pieces samples of Rhizoma Alismatis Orientalitis from...
