The Role Of Proton Pump-inhibitor In Patients With Non-erosive Reflux Disease (NERD)

Objective: To investigate the reflux features of different degree and types, to confirm the value of 24-hour PH monitoring NERD diagnosis, to observe 2 weeks therapeutic effect of Esomeprazole for NERD and discuss the difference among the different subtypes.Material and Methods: Fifty GERD patients are accepted in the study, including 20 cases of EE and 30 cases of NERD. All the cases are give 24 hour PH monitoring. Fifteen subjects of NERD were randomized to daily supplement of 40mg Esomeprazole for 2 weeks. Fifteen subjects were given placebo. To observe the reflux symptom and its degree before and after drug administration.Results: All the cases finished the 2-week drug administration. All the patients suffered heartburn and nausea, 86%(43/50)suffered retrosternal pain.
