ObjectivePatients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in stabal were treated with oral corticosteroids for two weeks. They were observed pulmonary function number of cells eotaxin and ECP in induced sputum. Therefore ,we could investigate the effect of oral corticosteroids on airway inflammation and pulmonary function of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.Objects and methods Collecting 30 cases stable patients with COPD. All peoples were measured in pulmonary function number of cells eotaxin ECP in induced sputum .Patients were administered a nebulized dose of 200ug salbutamol and gieven test of bronchodilation .Further more ,they were divided into group A (FEV1 improvement 0-7%) and group B (FEV1 improvement 8-14%) according to FEV1 improvement. All patients were given oral corticosteroids 0.5mg/kg/d for two weeks .At the first day of the test end, they were measured pulmonary function (FEV1) number of cells eotaxin ECP in induced sputum. Results Before treatment, group A and B had no significantly different in FEV1% predicted(P>0.05). After treatment, group B tended to have higher FEV1% predicted(P<0.05). FEV1 improvement of group B was( 17.7 ± 3.4)%, and it was (6.8 ±2.8)% in group A. There was significantly different in improvement of FEV1 % between them (P<0.05). Before and after treatment, there was not significantly different in the numbers of total cells between group A and B(P>0.05).Before treatment, EOS % of group B and A was(12.4±2.7)% and (24.1 ±3.6)% respectively , group B was higher than that of group A . After treatment, EOS % of group B...
