Application Of Neuronavigation System In Microsurgical Neurosurgery

Objective To explore the application of neuronavigation system in microsurgical operation of neurosurgery.Methods The navigation system was used in 111 patients with intracranial tumor from Oct. 2004. to Mar. 2006.Results Among 111 cases, the mean registration error(MFE)was within 2 mm.In 94 cases of lesionectomy operations, total removal was achieved in 73 cases(77.7%), subtotal tumor removal in 16 cases (17.0%). Shunt surgeries and biopsy procedures were successfully performed in 13 and 4 cases respectively. No case died in all patients.Conclusion The neuronavigation system was found to be reliable and accurate in neurosurgical operations. The application of this technique can dramatically improve effect and decrease surgical complications.
