Objective: According to the theory of Chinese medicine and Chinese-western combined medicine, the study probes into the pathogenesis, mechanism and therapy of Behcet's disease from the two aspects of theory and clinic. Methods: we collected 45 outpatients of Behcet's disease from 2003 to 2005. we prescribed Tongjietiaobutang and Huobahuagen Tablets for 30 cases as the treating group. The control group contains 15 cases, prescribed with Huobahuagen Tablets. Treat for 2 months and inquire for 3 months to observe the relapse and reverse reaction. Results: Through the clinical study, we can see that the therapy of Tongjietiaobutang and Huobahuagen Tablets could improve the clinical symptoms, signs, and laboratory examinations, diminution the relapse rate, extend the relapse interphase. The effective rate of the treating group is 93.33%, which is significantly superior to that of the control group (53.33%, P<0.05).Conclusion: The basic pathogenesis of BD is spleen failure to transport and transform, wetness-heat and blood-stasis adverse rising and downword attacking. It is proved that clearing heat and relieving toxin and removing dampness, dredging fu and purging heat, regulating qi and activating blood, strengthening spleen and benefiting qi is an effective main therapeutic method in treating Behcet's disease.
